Intervenția marchează, simbolic, două evenimente care nu au mai avut loc. Pe de o parte, din cauza restricțiilor impuse de situația epidemiologică, o serie de târguri tradiționale (de meșteșuguri, anuale) au fost anulate în acest an, printre ele numărându-se și Târgul de Sf. Ilie de la Polovragi, unul dintre cele mai importante târguri din zona dintre Târgu Jiu și Râmnicu Vâlcea și aflat la jumătatea distanței dintre acestea. În același timp un proiect social gândit de Andreea Medar și Mălina Ionescu a fost anulat din aceleași motive. O țesătură din hârtie, suport pentru o lucrare participativă de mari dimensiuni urma să acopere spațiul public comun al unei comunități urbane. Peste această dublă anulare / suspendare se suprapune și pierderea progresivă și continuă a unei serii întregi de tradiții – de la meșteșugul însuși (deja resimțit și acuzat în chiar cadrul fenomenul târgului de meșteșuguri) la modul la care se raportează o comunitate sau un grup la o activitate colectivă. Pe locul și în perioada în care ar fi trebuit să se desfășoare Târgul de la Polovragi, Andreea Medar și Mălina Ionescu au țesut, împreună cu un grup de prieteni și ulterior membri ai comunității locale o structură din hârtie, cea mai simplă formă de țesătură, în cadrul unui performance participativ care a reușit în mod surprinzător să evoce parțial starea specifică unei sărbători a cărei funcțiune este, dincolo sau chiar în absența sensului ei sacru, în primul rând unificatoare. Lucrarea dă startul proiectului IN VITRO – o serie de intervenții artistice în fereastra galeriei Camera K’ARTE.
Evenimentul se va desfășura în aer liber cu respectarea măsurilor de siguranță impuse de legislația în vigoare.

Az intervenció két olyan eseményt jelöl meg szimbolikus keretek közt, amelyekre nem került sor. Idén a járványügyi helyzet nyomán bevezetett korlátozások miatt sok hagyományos (évente megrendezésre kerülő, kézművessség-központú) vásár maradt el – ezek közé tartozik a Polovragi-i Szent Illés (Sf.Ilie) ünnepi vásár is, amely Târgu Jiu és Râmnicu Vâlcea között félúton, mindeddig a régió egyik legfontosabb vására volt. Ugyanebben az időben Andreea Medar és Mălina Ionescu társadalmi projektje hasonló okok miatt maradt el; a részvétel-alapú, nagyméretű alkotás kelléke, az óriás papírszövet egy városi közösség nyilvános terét fedte volna le. Ezzel a kettős eltörléssel egyetemben hagyományok egész sorozatának fokozatos elvesztése is zajlik – magától a kézművességtől kezdve (ebben maguk a kézműves vásárok is szerepet játszottak) egészen addig a módozatig, ahogyan egy közösség vagy csoport egy közös tevékenységhez viszonyul. Azon a helyszínen és abban az időintervallumban, amikor a Polovragi-i vásár zajlott volna, Andreea Medar és Mălina Ionescu baráti társasággal, majd a helyi közösség tagjaival közösen, szövéssel egy papírszerkezetet hoztak létre – a legegyszerűbb szövetformát. A nézői részvétellel történő performansz meglepő módon képes volt részben megidézni egy olyan ünnep levegőjét, amelynek szerepe, szakrális jelentésén túl, vagy akár annak hiányában is, elsősorban az összefogás. Jelen alkotás az IN VITRO című projekt első állomása – amelynek keretén belül a K’ARTE Szoba ablakában időről időre művészeti intervenciók jelennek meg.

Intervention / performance that stages symbolically two events that were cancelled due to the pandemic. On the one hand, a series of traditional fairs were cancelled, among them the St. Elijah Fair from Polovragi, one of the most important holiday and social event in the area (at the border between the counties of Gorj and Vâlcea, and halfway between the towns of Târgu Jiu and Râmnicu Vâlcea). On the other hand, a large scale participative artwork destined for the public space of an urban community was cancelled for the same reasons – the restrictions regarding communities and public events. Underlining this double cancellation is also the continuous and progressive reality of several traditions being lost – from the traditional crafts (phenomenon visible and accused even within the traditional county fairs) to the ways a social group or community relate to a collective event. On the place and at the time of the St. Elijah fair, Mălina Ionescu and Andreea Medar weaved, together with a group of friends and members of the local community a paper structure, the most basic type of weave, in a participative performance which has surprisingly succeeded in partially evoking the mood and emotion of a holiday rural event – the main function of which is, beyond its sacred meaning, a socially unifying one.
This video starts the IN VITRO project – a series of artistic interventions in the window of the Camera K’ARTE gallery.
The event will take place outdoors in compliance with the safety measures required by current legislation.
